The Post Graduate Program of the School of Theology aim to carry out research and to provide a high quality education in the scientific field of theology and the study of religion and culture. The more specific aim of the Program is to promote specialized knowledge and the development of high-level research in the science of theology and its applications in education, the church and society, with a particular emphasis on Orthodox Theology.
A specific objective is to prepare:
1. Prospective theology teachers that will staff Secondary To obtain the Post Graduate Degree of Specialization (PDS) a student must attend and successfully pass exams for nine semester long courses (90 ECTS) and have written a graduate thesis during the fourth semester (30 ECTS), the theme of which is defined at the end of third semester and graded by a three member committee.
2. Theologically trained clergy who will staff the Church.
3. Managers for various cultural and religious organizations and
4. Future scientists who will be engaged in the study of Christian theology, with a special emphasis on Orthodox theology, tradition and ecumenical role, as well as Religion and Culture.
The Postgraduate Program ensures conditions so that graduates can worthily be deployed to Orthodox Autocephalous Churches, various educational institutions of the European Union and the special services of the Greek state. Also, they will be able to teach courses in continuing education and training courses aimed at the training or familiarization of trainees on culture, religion and society.
The Postgraduate Program offers the following specializations: I. Biblical Studies – Biblical and Patristic Language, History, Literature, Archaeology and Art, Dogmatics, History of Philosophy and Ecumenical Theology, Ethics, Sociology and the Study of Religion, Practical Theology. Specializations have also been designed for the development of critical thinking and the research skills necessary for doctoral studies and research activity described in scientific fields.
